Nothing like having the ability to identify your local sex offender!.plus- news about the Drug Dealer Neighbor.

I stumbled onto an interesting web page today. I kinda wish I hadnt found it.

I found the page through a link on the State of North Dakotas home page. Since the state home page is one of the few sites we can view at work (about 99.98% of the Internet is blocked to us. Because we would just surf porn all day, dont you know?), I stop by occasionally to see whats new with my employer.

Today, there was a blurb that said NEW! Visit the states registered sex offender homepage!

A little too cheery for my tastes, but I clicked on the link anyway.

It seems the general assembly passed a law a while back that made ANYONE who has been convicted of ANY sex-related crime register their home address. If they move, they only have a short time to re-register or they could be charged with a crime.

Cool idea, right? Make it public record so anyone who has concerns about the creepy dude down the street can see if they like to diddle little boys or girls.

The search feature was set up in several different categories. I chose city name first, and typed in my hometown, Mohall.

How many pages of 10 perverts do you think came up for our sleepy little hamlet?

Try 11.

A total of 108 men and women (yeah, a few women have been convicted under these laws, too. All listed for Mohall were for offenses committed on persons under the age of 18. Nice, huh?) reside within a 7 square mile area of our home.

The closest?

One lives about 2 blocks north and one block east of here. And he isnt the closest.

No, that award goes to a 34-year-old man who lives LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY!

He has two small children. Wonderful!

Now, he could have been convicted for having sex with a 16-year-old girl when he was 18, or something equally less grotesque.

Thats what I am hoping for, anyway. If not, I have to ask this question:

How can the state let him stay in the same house as two minor children?

Just wondering.

No, I really dont know the guy. Thanks for asking.

I know who he is, but thats about it.

He has a tire swing in his front yard that is strung up with a large cotton rope at least 50 foot up in a oak tree. I see him pushing his kids on it during the summer months.

I just hope he didnt put it up for the same reasons a bear hunter baits his trap

Yes, I did look my name up. No I havent ever been arrested, let alone committed any crime like this.

My last name is a little bit common, and my first isnt quite as much.

There are no convicted sex offenders in North Dakota with the same name as me.

Thats good to know.

One last thing:

I quickly scanned the 108 names, looking to see if I recognized anybody.

Unfortunately, I did.

This man is in his late 60s, but that doesnt mean he isnt still a risk.

He is also the father of two girls I grew up with back in the 1960s and 70s. The lived about 100 feet from my childhood homes front door.

He always seemed a little odd back then.

Looks like it was a good thing my sister and I never had a sleep-over at their house

Yuck subject!

I feel like I needed a shower after viewing the convicts photos.

On to a better subject:

The Drug Dealer Neighbor has two new Pit Bull puppies.

Considering his track record with dogs, that really isnt good news. The last three dogs he had shackled to a life of misery have each disappeared. It didnt matter that I snuck them food and water. He seems to treat them like livestock, waiting to see what they grow up to be someday.

I cant say I have any evidence that HE fights his dogs, but when Woady showed up on day last summer, a full year after he disappeared, he was injured and week. The D.D.N. managed to come home before the animal control people stopped by, and that was the last we ever saw of Woady.

Rowdy grew up to be a Pit Bull mix (not good enought to fight, I guess), and was a really kind-hearted dog. That sealed his fate. One day last summer, he came up missing, according to D.D.N., never to be seen again , too.

Another Pit came and went in September. I dont know if he was recuperating from a fight, or just visiting. All I know is he didnt last long.

And now, he has two more very cute 10-week-old puppies.

I found this out when I knocked on his door yesterday. I was checking to make sure my new light wasnt keeping his family up all night. I think they sleep during the day anyway, so I didnt think he would mind.

D.D.N. wasnt home but old token white guy was. He answered the side door (they never open the front door. Must be a dealer thing), and called me around to the back of the house. On the small concrete sunken patio beside his house were two brindle colored pups, one much larger than the other. He told me that the little one was the runt of the litter, and that he had a very bad case of worms when they picked him up from the "breeders". You could still grab a pinch of the little ones skin and pull it up without having it pull back into place. He said it had gained a couple of pounds in the last week, so it might still make it .

It really sickens me to see this process starting over again. If I didnt already have two dogs, I would offer to take the runt off of his hands.

I just know when he ends up to small to fight he will be gone, just like the rest of them

Enough depressing issues!

I think I will start putting together my Top Ten Albums of the Year 2002 list now, since Lease has to work until 9 pm again tonight.
