Little to nothing here today

Nothing else was said about the antenna today. Doughnut stopped by the storage to check out the TV, and when I asked him if the purchase had been brought to his attention, he just nodded his head. He didnt say anything else. So I guess that is that, right?

Dont bet on it. Somebody just like Beavis who shuffles papers in London will be the next to complain.

The remote control that London sent over with the VCR had dead batteries in it.

Imagine that!

They were Duracell brand, and the use by date was January of 1995.

I just cant figure out why they didnt work!

Instead of going to Menards (or some similar place of business), Beavis decided to do what he always does- he followed the bureaucratic handbook and put in a requisition for 4 AA cell batteries.

He did this by sending a fax to the office supply manager in London, asking for the 4 batteries. This person ( I will go out on a limb here and assume) then boxed the 4 freakin batteries in a packing container and dropped them in the U.S. mail.

We should have our new alkalines in about 3 days.

Never mind the fact that I could have bought them locally for around $2.

If you work for the Government, its always better to stay in line and follow the rules.

After you figure up the cost of the London batteries, including packaging, shipping, and employee time spent processing this order, these batteries (I am about sick of typing the word batteries now) should only cost the taxpayers about $5 each, instead of the .50 each I could have paid for them.

Kinda makes yesterdays little antenna problem seem even sillier, doesnt it?

I forgot to tell you- we have another new employee. He started Monday, but didnt make it to the storage until Tuesday.

I guess the drive from London (3 hours or so) after orientation just wore him out.

I asked him his age today. None of my business, right? So call me nosy. He looked like the oldest of our new employees.

He is.

He will be 58 this summer. He is at least 5 years older than any of the 4 people who retired at the end of the year.

Figures.

He also let us all know what he believes politically. Im not a political person, he kept telling us as he spelled out his just-this-side-of-Socialist viewpoints. That wont go over too well with the bunch of conservative, gun owning, church going guys already working for the State.

This should be fun to deal with until he retires or enters the workmans compensation system (2 years, tops, is my guess).

Damn, I am in a foul mood today, arent I?

Lease and I took Tony Bonehead for a long walk tonight. When she came home from work, the outside temperature was 61!

Yes, its still Mid-January here. The normal high this time of year should be around 32 here in Mohall. I think the overnight low was only 38.

El Nin strikes again!

Tomorrow a nasty cold front is due to drop down from Canada, putting us back to around normal.

But today, we acted like it was late March here. Guys were walking around without jackets this afternoon.

There will be a bunch of them with colds next week, I predict here now..

So thats it for today- bitching, whining, complaints about my boss and a new coworker, and a nice walk with the wife.

The time with the wife, enjoying the fine, spring-like weather sure helped block out all the earlier overall 'crappyness' of my workday ..
