Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 - 7:53 p.m.

Freakishly warm again, and why that isnt a good thing for me..

Todays high temperature was 82 here in Mohall.

Thats just not right. It is only the first of April (and no, this isnt some April Fools entry).

Why would anyone complain about warm weather, after the long winter we just went through?

Because I am a gardener, thats why. And all this early warm weather causes me problems now and down the road.

Now? My nectarine tree is blooming today. So is my apricot tree. This is about 3 weeks before they usually do. Since the average date of our last frost is April 21, that means we will most likely have some cold nights before things stay this warm for good. A frost will damage tender plants, but shouldnt cause the fruit tress to drop their young fruit. If it gets down to around 25? No fruit for Roadiepigs garden this summer.

The warmth has also caused the daffodils to bloom early. The heat caused some of the blooms to open and immediately wilt. I had some species tulips by the front door that looked shredded by the heat.

All of the long-term forecasts are calling for above normal temps for the next 10 days.

Great, but

We received a very late frost last spring.

May 21st, to be exact.

That frost killed the young fruits of the wild blackberries, black raspberries, and all of my wild apple trees.

This early heat will push all of them along again, just like last year.

Maybe we wont have the late frost again

Cool. At least one of the P.O.W. soldiers from America has been freed by our troops. I think it was the young woman from Texas.

So I guess they havent executed all of them yet.

The big news today was that the Iraqi disinformation ministry announced that Saddam would be addressing the people of Iraq live on state-run television. Supposedly, he would tell his people how well the Republican Guard was kicking the coalitions ass, and other such nonsense.

When the time came for his speech, some other mustachioed man came on the screen, and called for a jihad. This man implored all fellow Islamic warriors to come to Iraq to help defeat the infidels.

No word on why Saddam wasnt shown.

I can give you my best guess here today:

HE IS DEAD! HE HAS ASSUMED ROOM TEMPERATURE! HE CAN'T GIVE A SPEECH IF HIS VOCAL CORDS ARE DECOMPOSING!

As far as I am concerned, so is Bin Laden (even with the audiotape released just before the start of this war. I still think that was the Arab Rich Little, and the only reason why our government said they thought it was him was because it served our purposes).

I wanna see a video of Saddam holding the front page of the most recent edition of the Baghdad Times, like kidnappers do when they want to prove their hostage is still alive.

Otherwise, I will continue to think he is dead.

Why would the rest of the high-ranking members of his military continue the battle, even if he were gone?

Because they know they wont walk away alive for things they have done in the past.

Of course, thats just my opinion.I could be wrong .

(with apologies to Dennis Miller- HBO done us all wrong by canceling your great hour comedy show . Bill Maher? Not funny, not entertaining, not nearly as intelligent as he thinks he is- just rude.)

This ends the political portion of todays entry.

Nobody (beside the blocked referrer person) is reading this journal right now anyway.

Everyone must be glued to the tube, watching the latest from Iraq.

Or watching to see if Jerry Rivers has been removed from his embedded position yet
