Another memo from the head of NDDOT, a random photo posting, and a link to some real humor.

Our new chief pooh-bah is at it again.

First, he sends out a memo telling us that we should be kissing the ground we walk (or drive a snow plow) on that we have our jobs, and that he would make damn sure anyone who is employed by NDDOT who doesnt should (he used the words, But, if you think that the NDDOT should just be happy that you are around, I think you should be worried about loosing your job! Or something like that, anyway).

Then, last week he had a press conference where he announced his new bumper sticker program. This was the one where each truck would be covered with bumper stickers with a tool-free number for anyone to call to report highway workers who are doing anything that pisses you off. He also stated that his research had shown him that 10% of all NDDOT highway workers did nothing for their paychecks (I think this amounted to him driving around Bismarck and looking for sleeping maintainers. He found one, so he must have seen a total of 10 workers?)

This was on our homepage this morning. He must have posted it over the weekend. I imagine he hangs around the headquarters all weekend, since he obviously DOESNT HAVE A LIFE! :

It has been brought to my attention that employees have been using two-ply toilet paper at the storage yards. This is no longer acceptable- this paper is only to be purchased by the state for use in official state office buildings, and for the inmates in all state prisons. You are only authorized to use the recycled one-ply toilet paper that has been manufactured from used newspaper.

Employees should already have a supply at each storage for use in rubber crack filling operations on asphalt roadways. Only one-ply paper should be used from this day forward for personal hygiene use. Any unused two-ply paper should be immediately boxed up and shipped to the state prison or office building closest to each storage facility.

Any employee caught using two-ply paper after the filing of this document will be punished in as swift and severe a method as current bargaining agreements permit.

We are also studying whether the state should be charging employees for the parking of personal vehicles in each storage facility. We feel that this is a untapped source of revenue for the NDDOT, and that you, as a state employee, have been taking advantage of our generosity for far too long.

And how about chairs? Why should we provide chairs to each and ever storage? If we know that 10% of you dont work on the roadway, we can only imagine how many more of you sit in one of the taxpayers paid-for chairs all day, reading their horoscopes and talking on the phone to other non-working employees!

Air! Who gave you the right to consume precious air during work hours? Do you think that the motoring public wants to find out that you are getting paid by the NDDOT JUST TO STAND AROUND ALL DAY, SUCKING DOWN TAXPAYER-PAID-FOR OXYGEN!

DAMN STRAIGHT THEY DONT!

NOW-GET BACK TO WORK! YOU HAVE ALREADY SPENT 5 MINUTES READING THIS MEMO! THE TAXPAYERS DESERVE MORE THAN THIS FOR THEIR NEWLY-INCREASED FEES AND TOLLS RAISED BY OUR GREAT NEW GOVERNOR!

Yeah, I know- leave the comedy to people who are actually funny.

Hey, the above really isnt too far from our present reality

I was attempting to sort through all of the photos I have shot in the past couple of months last night (hard drive is now about 50% full, and I think most of that is. jpegs), and I came across this photo from one of Lease and my trips to Springpatch (for Codemans baseball games this spring).

Let me know what you think of it, good or bad..

Ill leave you with this link .

I found myself laughing out loud at what this person did with his signature. He noticed that nobody ever checked the chicken scratches on his credit card to see if it matched what he had put on his receipts. So, he decided to see how far he could push his luck before someone called him on it.

Much funnier than my attempt at sarcasm at the top of this entry
