Two more reasons to be happy you dont work for the NDDOT (or live anywhere near here, for that matter)

Reason #1:

I found out today that over 25 lawsuits have been filed against the state DOT and our wonderful mob-like governor, Little Big Man.

Why?

Because they were overlooked for promotion.

Sounds simple, but its not. They weren't passed over for another of their less-qualified coworkers.

No, that isnt Governor Little Big Mans way of doing business.

His henchmen decided to pay back some of their campaign workers by giving them jobs with the NDDOT. And not just starter-level( 75% of normal pay0 jobs like everone else has done in the past.

No, he really wanted to REWARD these fine campaign workers.

So he hired them in as lead and lead-lead workers.

Thats right- people that have never even worked a day for the NDDOT were hired to RUN ENTIRE COUNTIES! No knowledge of how the program works. No idea what the computer system was, nor how to assign workers to jobs and such.

Just good campaign workers.

So, in the counties where these scumbags showed up one day, saying that they were in charge, the remaining employees found attorneys and filed lawsuits.

Good for them, I say. Why should someone without any experience/knowledge/common sense honed from years of working for the NDDOT start at day one with a higher paycheck than a 20-year employee? And, to top it off, to expect the long-term employees to train him to do the job they though they were up for?

The State is already caving in to these storages, offering lead worker jobs to the roper people. That wont eliminate the lawsuits. Oh yeah, and the new employees? They will stay on as lead workers anyway. They will just be in training for the rest of their employment.

Kudos to our union for helping fight this group of corrupt fools. Too bad the same union recommended that we vote for this man.

And who suffers the most?

The taxpayers, of course. They will be paying the salaries of these unqualified employees, and any payouts for the lawsuits.

Makes me spit nails, Im tellin you.

Item #2 (this one is much scarier!):

I had a visit yesterday from the nuclear safety guy. He comes by once a year to check out monitors for the power plant to our south. Yesterday was the day.

We shared complaints about what Little Big Man has done to our offices. I thought our situation was bad, but his story raised the hair on the back of my neck.

Last year, when the state offered early retirement many of the long-time employees of the department of nuclear security decided that the offer was too good to pass up. He said about 1/6th of the entire department left by the end of the year.

It wasnt until this summer before L.B.M.s people decided to start filling these vital positions. The former employees had degrees in things like Nuclear physics, hazardous waste containment, and other high-tech fields.

The people that Little Big Mans people hired (opps- sorry! Appointed, not hired!) to replace them?

Some had Bachelor of Science degrees from their local community colleges. And some just had high school diplomas( or their equivalency, I assume).

They showed up at the workplace one at a time, introducing themselves by saying things like, Hi, my name is Political Flunkie! I was appointed by our great new governor to the position of Nuclear Accident preparation specialist at the salary of $65,672 a year! Now, I want you to tell me- what do I have to do for this job? What is my respons-a-bilities anyway?

If that doesnt worry you, its only because you live at least 3 states away from us here in North Dakota, and have no fear of a power plant's melting down

Like my bud Zackal said to me tonight (after I told him the previous two stories):

I really dont want to know these things! You should try to just think about all of those white bass. That might take you mind off of it for a while.

I think hes right.

Tomorrow, Lease has a floating holiday. They dont get any of the national holidays off except for New Years Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. They also get 3 of those floaters.

I have to go in to work in the morning, but I do still have those 4 hours of p.b. to burn . The forecast is for overcast skies, wind from southwest (very good) , with scattered showers starting in the afternoon(even better for fishing)

Since she is getting her hair done in the morning and has other things she wants to do in the afternoon, she said she doesnt care if I go after those whites one more time in the afternoon.

I also start my winter call on Saturday. No more ignoring the telephone. And winter weather is just around the corner.

Sounds like tomorrow will be the perfect day to try to forget about all of the unqualified new employees, and to try my best to restock the freezer with white bass filets
