What is going on here? Weather wise, that is

The thermometer on the little Weatherbug ap at the bottom right hand corner of my toolbar reads 62 as I am typing this entry.

Lets review- its 7:30 pm, so the sun has set long ago. The date (in case you are reading this down the road, and not today) is January 12.

And we live in the Northern hemisphere, not New Zealand (hi flying-kiwi!)

The normal high for our little neck of the woods for this day is 33. Thats the normalhigh, not low. That would be 17!

So we are about 30 warmer than we should be.

We received over 2 of rain yesterday. This has pushed all of the local creeks and rivers far out of their banks. The forecast for tonight is for more heavy rainfall (maybe over an 1), followed by a sudden plunge of temperature.

How much of a drop?

It should be down to that normal high of 33 when I wake tomorrow morning.

And the low tomorrow night is predicted to be 2.

Thats a full 60 drop in a little over 30 hours!

We could get a little snowfall as the front passes, so I might have to pull a 12 hour shift again tomorrow.

At least I am on days this week

The Maytag is now back to full health.

The repairman worked on it for over an hour. The bearings only took him about 10 minutes to switch out, but it turned out that wasnt the only problem.

Three of the 5 bolts holding the motor to the drum had worked their was lose. He figured this out after he put the bearing on. The drum was rattling like crazy, and you could almost hear the bolts scrapping the base of the drum.

He had to lift the machine back off of the ground, and lying on his back, work his wrenches into the tiny openings for each bolt.

That stopped the rattle, but the machine was still trying to walk across the basement floor.

He checked the balance of the machine using a bubble level, and found out that the front legs were properly adjusted. Since the back legs are automatically adjusted (by tilting the machine forward and setting it back on the ground), he decided to check the levelers out.

Turns out the one on the left had become gummed up with whatever, and wasnt working. He shot it with grease, worked it by hand a little bit, and set the machine back down.

Problem solved.

Once he started the washer on spin (with the drum empty and the lid open), I could tell the difference. The drum now spins at a much faster speed, and the machine itself doesnt move the slightest bit.

The load we washed tonight came out nearly dry. I am so used to taking wet clothes out of the washer, it will take me a while to get used to this.

And our gas bills (for the dryer) should drop dramatically

How dull is my day that I can write a full page in Word about my freakin washing machine?

Sorry

The Illini mens basketball squad takes on Penn State in just a few minutes.

The Las Vegas line for this contest is Illinois 30. That means they should win by around 30 points, for those who dont gamble (I dont, but I how it works).

Now that Green Bay stunk it up again in the playoffs, I dont have much else sports-wise to keep me busy anymore.

Welltheres always the Colts. Peyton Manning is fun to watch run his high powered offence (the Bears havent had anything even close to an offense in at least 8 years, so its fun to see how good it can be).

And the Chicago Bulls seem to have finally figured out how to win again.

But my Illini are still the #1 team in the nation.

It dont get any better than that
