What's (actually, what was) for dinner?

(Another one of my "bread box" shots)

Last night's dinner, prior to assembly.

Included were leeks and Chinese cabbage from my "work" garden (hard freeze today probably killed the last of the cabbage, but the leeks should still be fine).

The last of the freshwater prawns that we bought on vacation from a farm in Southern Illinois. The orange spots near the front of the bowl are roe from the shrimp- I left it in the mix for flavor ;)

Large mussels and Thai rice noodles from the Oriental market in Collegetown.

Oh yeah- mushrooms, orange bell pepper, and sugar snap peas from Wallyworld.

Turned out pretty good. I made the sauce a little thin, so it was more like a soup than a stir fry.

Tasted good- that's what matters, right?

'bout time I take the empty canning jars out to the garage, don't you think?

Spent most of the workday at a special class about lighting for emergency vehicles.

Yes, it was exciting as it sounds.

I did learn something new- LED (light emitting diode) lighting is different than any other type of lighting because...

The color of the diode determines the color of the light. That light is in a very narrow section of the color spectrum.

In other words- if you want a amber colored LED light, you have to buy amber diodes. You can put a clear cover over any color led, and the diode will project that color. You don't need to put an amber cover over an amber diode, but people expect the light to be amber, so...

They still cover the LED's with the same color cover as the diode for purely cosmetic reasons.

But...

If you bought a red diode light fixture, and then cover it with a blue lens?

You have nothing- you can't even see if the light is on or off!

I know- big deal.

I thought the demonstration (covering the red led with a blue lens= disappearing light!) was pretty cool.

If for no other reason than that it kept me awake for a few minutes...
