The cause of all trouble

This is the wallpaper that caused all of our labor:

Codeman found a set of Roman numerals on the matching fabric inserts of the old shutters (put on the curb Saturday around 12pm, picked up by a neighbor at 1pm- probably find them on Ebay today) that worked out to the year 1951.

Now, that don't mean the fabric in the shutters (and the wallpaper) was actually manufactured in that year.

But-its very old anyway you look at it. The design is at least 55 years old anyway.

Even thought Lease liked this room when we moved in (me, being a typical man, didn't mind how the room looked as long as the room wasn't on fire), she grew tired of this old design.

So...

We spent most of the waking hours of the last 3 days working on removing the paper (5+ hours of work for all of us), painting the ceiling and walls with three different paints (most of Sunday, and all morning today for me alone), and stripping and cleaning the wood floor (gave up on the refinishing kit Lease picked out at Menards after reading the instructions- 14 days before we could let the dogs run thought he room? I don't THINK so!)

How does the room look after all this work?

Ill post a photo of the final; results later.

The important thing?

Lease is happy with how it looks right now.

So I'm happy, too.

Still have to pick out a new rug to put under the dining room table, mount the new mini blinds and curtains (valances, Lease says they are) and reassemble the room in a couple of days (have to let the Orange Glo hardwood floor refinisher set up for at least 24 hours- lot better the 14 days!)

The good part?

Today is only Monday. We are off until next Tuesday.

That means we have a full 7 days off before we have to go back to work. And the majority of the work (the hard parts, anyway) is now done.

Even the rain is supposed to stop tomorrow. It's rained, on and off, for the last 5 days.

Tomorrow?

We are going fishing, rain or shine.

That, and returning the 2 Varathane wood floor refinishing kits ($67 each) to Menards for a refund.

Probably give us store credit.

I imagine we can figure out a way to spend the refund. The dining room rug should eat up a big chunk of it.

If not?

Its a big store. Shouldnt be too hard to spend it all....
