Friday, Jan. 09, 2009 - 9:45 p.m. Schadenfreude defined (kudos to my brother-in-law for pointing this out ;-) Couldn't happen to a nicer crook- Governor Rod is one step closer to being removed from office after the state House of Illinois voted to impeach him today (the vote was 114 for, one against. And the one who voted against couldn't really explain why he voted no. Might have done so by mistake?) Anyway- this photo ( from the Chicago Tribune) was shot as he returned from his daily jog, taken while the House was actually voting on his impeachment. Jogging Rod- working hard for the hard working citizens of Illinois! This has been building for the last 6 years. He ran for his first election as the candidate for change (sound familiar?)- cleaning out the corrupt culture of politics that the last governor (now in prison) had taken our state into. Unless you never watch any national news, you know that he stands accused of trying to sell the senate seat that Barack Obama left when he won the presidency. And that is only 1 of the 13 charges that the House brought against him. Some of the charges date back to things he did 5 years ago! He won't resign, so the next step is for the state Senate to have a trial to remove him from office. That one has to pass with a 2/3rds majority. I wouldn't want to be one of the senators who voted against his removal- they would have a very hard time winning re-election 2 years from now if they did...
