Yeah, the Illini lost last nightthanks for reminding me!.plus- one bizarre daffodil from our garden, and a preview of the countries largest pepper farm (here in North Dakota?)

Yes, the Illini lost. No big deal- after all, I said yesterday I expected it.

They stayed close, only trailing by 1 at the half. Amazing, considering the fact Duke was shooting bonus free throws only 8 minutes into the game, and the 2 most important players for the good guys were on the bench, in foul trouble, at that time.

The second half was all Duke, all referees, and all tough shit Illinois fans .

Look, college basketball fans hate Duke for the same reasons baseball fans hate the New York Yankees, and pro football fans hate the Dallas Cowboys: THEY FUCKIN WIN!

Best talent? Usually.

Good coaching? Same.

The guys in the striped shirts afraid to anger the coaches of, fans of, and the players for those teams? More than they want to admit.

The Illini didnt shoot a free throw until 2 minutes remained in the first half (a shooting foul, too) They never got into the one and bonus(that would take 7 team fouls against Duke), let alone the double bonus (over 10 fouls against Duke) in either half. Duke was at the line less than 12 minutes into EACH HALF!

Am I blaming the refs for the loss?

No.

The better team won.

But if you dont think being Duke (or the Yankees, or the Cowboys) isnt worth a few points a game, you arent being real.

Next year, my team has all 5 starters, plus the first 5 off of the bench coming back. That, and two new players (one signed, and one likely to- both all-staters) to add to the mix.

This group won the Illinis first untied, undisputed Big Ten championship in 50+ years this season.

Next year could be something really special..

Lease and I went to the grand opening of the largest indoor bell pepper farm in the U.S. of A. today.

Yes, it is located just a few miles away of our hometown of Mohall, North Dakota.

Ripe, sweet bell peppers grown in North Dakota?

Yes.

Tomorrow, I will tell you all about it here.

Tonight, I am just worn out. I have a bunch of photos of the place (taken today) that are in need of editing. No time, so they will wait.

Ill just leave you with this one photo. It is of a daffodil presently in bloom in our front flowerbed.

Yes, even though it doesnt look like one, it really is a daffodil. I picked up the bulbs for this plant several years ago at the local apple and pork festival. It has grown each spring, but never has produced much, bloom wise.

This spring, it decided to put on a show. Each flower is around the size of a regular daffodil, but each bloom is shaped more like a cactus flower than the typical single petal, cup shaped bloom of the usual narcissi.

The cluster of these blooms is much smaller than the rest of their family, but they still manage to catch your eye when checking out the rest of this bed..
