How can such a small room be so much hard work to change? If you had been here, you wouldnt have to ask that question.

The dining room is in transition as I type this. Yesterday we finished stripping the two layers of wallpaper (dating back to the 1920's for the bottom one), separated by a think layer of paint that a previous owner tried to cover the first wall paper with many years ago, after about 5 hours of hard work. In all, 4 different people took part in this "fun".

Before I called it a night, I managed to apply the ceiling paint. That's what you see in this photograph:

Today?

After the required 3 hour ordeal that is a trip to the Hometown buffet on Mother's day (happy M-day to all you mothers ;), and a couple of stops to pick up more supplies, I didnt get started painting until 4 pm. I have two coats on the elaborate top molding (still wet, and in need of another touch-up coat) and one coat on the area of the walls above the chair rail. All the colors used in this room are whites, but with subtle differences. The trim and area below the chair rail will be semi-gloss high-hiding white, and the areas above the rail will be something named Elegant white in an eggshell finish.

Since we are on vacation this week, I will probably still be painting long after the sun sets today. Won't even get one coat on the area below the chair rail tonight, either.

That's for tomorrow.

Oh yeah- we also have a no-sanding wood floor refinishing project for the dining room and entryway floor to try to complete tomorrow.

If all goes well, the majority of our home remolding stuff will be done when we go to bed.

That would leave us 6 days to catch up on fishing, movie watching (if it rains and stays cold, we might even something in a theater), and other more enjoyable things....
