Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 - 4:21 p.m. Ice storm photos, plus tomorrow's forecast... The ice storm last weekend was minor for us, but wrecked havoc in many other locations around the country. I managed to snap a few quick photos the day after the storm, after the rain stopped. Nothing special, but I thought I would post a few here anyway. Sign in front of a local sub shop. The icicles on the bottom of this sign are about 5 inches long each:
Close-up of an ice droplet from last weekend's ice storm:
Looking straight up( and edited black and white- view full size to get the full effect!)- after the ice storm last Sunday:
2" of snow, after 1" of freezing rain falls on it, ends up looking like this:
Looks like a heavy snow is headed our way, starting overnight. Might be as much as 8"-10". I don't mind working in that - snow plowing is cool (at least for the first few hours each winter), and it isn't that damn freezing rain we have been stuck with recently. Tomorrow will be a big shopping day, with Christmas only 10 days away. The majority of our shopping here in town is located along my route. That part I am not looking forward to- I had a couple of cars crunch into each other on a similar weekend day a few years back that closed my southbound lanes for a couple of hours, so I hope people at least slow down a little tomorrow.....
