No freezing rain, but.

We did end up getting snow. More than they predicted, too.

The NOAA weather station wasnt backing down from their forecast of freezing rain all day, even though the high temperature never crawled above 19. Kinda hard for rain to fall at 19. If it did, it would turn to sleep before it hit the ground.

Even up until 6 pm, the outlook was calling for a mix of freezing rain and snow, with only an inch or so of the white stuff.

We have about 4 or so on the ground right now. The snow has ended for now, but could start back up again overnight.

I will say this- snow is far better than freezing rain, in my line of work.

I was the only driver called in on the first call this morning (9:15 am). I helped Gordo (try to, with limited success) take the TMAs (you know- the crash barriers mounted to the rear of our trucks- see a photo of a few of them here. )off of three trucks before I headed out to the south end of the county. That was the area that was supposed to receive the first wave of precip, and for once it was.

But it didnt get here until about 11:30. That meant I picked up about 4 hours of credited time on the guys below me on the list. That should finally move me down from the dreaded #1 spot.

So thats a good thing

Thats all for now. I need to spend a few awake minutes with Lease before we go to sleep again.

Tomorrow? Strong winds during the daytime (drifting is a certainty), and another band of snow moving over the area in the Monday overnight hours. This one is supposed to come form the north, and should produce another 2 to 3 of wind- driven snow.

Looks like a long week is ahead for yours truly.
